Disclaimer: the owner of North Atlantic Sportsman, Joe Cimino, is a friend. Crapgame & I have both been treated very well over the years.
3 walls of guns! North Atlantic Sportsman is tucked behind the Bart shopping center on Route 25 in Monroe, CT.
As you can probably guess from the name, sporting arms are the focus here. North Atlantic’s specialty is shotguns: Benelli, Beretta, Browning, Caesar Guerini, Ljutic & Rizzini. Lot of shotguns in stock (S+S, O/U, repeater), and a good amount of hunting/sporting rifles especially lever actions. If you need a special shotgun for competition, you can almost certainly get it here.
Lot of used stuff, old .22 rifles & some surplus military. Reloading supplies, optics, clay pigeons, hunting pocketknives, gun cases, a lot of books too. And fishing gear.
In addition to a lot of acreage on the 3 walls of guns, there are 3 glass cases of vintage longarms.
Not many Evil Black Rifles in sight, but Joe can order anything you want from a distributor.
In terms of handguns, there are 3 main display cases, and another double glass case of special guns. Most of the staples are covered: concealment guns, service guns, target guns, enough 1911s to meet customers needs without treading into fanboy territory. Not a lot of tacticool stuff but you can find plenty of defensive options here.
Plenty of consignment guns pass through the store, and you can find a lot of interesting stuff if you pop your head in regularly. Some notable items at the moment: six (!) High Standard .22s, an elaborately engraved blued Python, two Walther P-1’s, a brace of single-action Rugers & Ubertis, a DWM 1916 Luger, HK P7 M8, S&W 422, two Charter Arms Bulldogs, at least a dozen lever-actions, some S&W & SiG pistols, a matched pair of Ruger black-powder revolvers.
In the past, we have found a nice used S&W Model 41, a nickel Colt Detective Special, a Springfield M6 in .22Hornet/.410, Colt 1903s, old Savage/FN/Remington pistols, and other interesting stuff.
You won’t find a lot of mall-ninjas cluttering up North Atlantic Sportsman, but that’s more of a feature than a drawback.
What you will find is a lot of interesting items, and the best shotgun selection in the area. Recommended.
