Last Sunday, GNM and I went to Hamden Fish and Game with our friend Gus and his daughter Marlese.
Gus is very experienced with firearms, but this was Marlese’s second visit. It turns out she’s a very good shot with my Ruger 10/22. I’m fairly certain she was a bit dubious about shooting GNM’s Glock, but she took a few shots and had a lot of fun with it.
And the target – great shooting!
GNM brought along his Ruger PC-40 and his Glock (I forget which model, but it’s also in .40SW).
In addition to the Ruger 10/22, I brought out my new toy – a Gamo Silent Cat Air Rifle – at 25 yards, it was surprisingly accurate. My only plan for it is extremely cheap target shooting. A friend of ours has one as well though, and he’s had a lot of success at taking care of small vermin around his property with it. The rifle is immensely quiet for an air rifle – it’s designed that way.
At some point, we might write up a more comprehensive review, but at least from my initial impressions, I’m very impressed with it.
All in all, despite the ridiculous humidity, we all had a great time. It’s very gratifying to introduce a new person to the shooting sports, and we look forward to bringing Marlese back to the range many more times.
