MArooned has posted some insightful analysis of what the implications of the McDonald decision might have on other states with draconian gun laws on the books, particularly his home state of Massachusetts.
We’re right next door, and while our restrictions aren’t quite as bad, there is plenty of room for improvement. Like Massachusetts, we in Connecticut have an Assault Weapons Ban, mirrored on the expired Federal one. It would be nice to see those laws challenged, but like MArooned, I don’t see it being successful any time soon.
Hopefully we’ll be seeing a flurry of legal challenges across the country. We’re a long way from finished with the fight, but we’ve had some encouraging victories in the last couple of years. It might not be a bad idea to send a donation to your favorite gun rights organization.
