It’s a 2-fer:
Mitz Arms & Ammo
Northeast Sporting Arms & Antiques
163 Main Street
Seymour, CT 06483
Tue: closed during summer
Wed – Fri: 11am – 7pm
Sat: 10am – 5pm
Right next to the Strand movie theater in Seymour you can find two dealers sharing a single location:
The interior is larger than the small storefront would indicate. It has an old-fashioned atmosphere because of the wood decor and the many sporting antiques on display:
You can find a wide variety of pistols & revolvers on display; a mix of new and used models. Single-action Colts & Rugers; S&W, Taurus, Ruger & Colt double-action revolvers; Ruger, Walther, Glock, Kahr, Kel-Tec, Beretta, a Colt Junior .25, assorted 1911s including a Colt Series-70 with the box, and of course the supremely awesome Hi-Point .45:
They have long guns as well; some used, some new. Sporting bolt-action and lever action rifles by Winchester, Browning and Marlin, as well as ARs and AK-pattern guns and two SKSs; defensive & sporting shotguns by Ithaca, Remington, Mossberg, Marlin, Sears, Winchester and Stevens; a Mini-14, and some surplus military rifles and M1 carbines too:
They have some very interesting guns too. Older Colt and S&W revolvers; an intricately-engraved Browning lever-action Model 65 Hi-Grade in .218 Bee (too much glare off the glass case to do justice to the beauty of this rifle, sorry):
Northeast Sporting Arms is a specialist in Remington Model 8 and Model 81 rifles, and they are actively looking for more examples of this fine and underappreciated rifle (more glass reflection, sorry):
Mitz is also a Class-3 dealer. In the past we have seen an MP40 on the wall. Oh yeah…
They also have ammo & accessories, a little bit of everything:
And, as mentioned above, Northeast Sporting Arms & Antiques also deals in antiques of a sporting nature.
The people behind the counter seem to be low-key and knowledgeable. No gun-store attitude that we have seen. The customers have appeared level-headed too. None of them has ever made me wonder if the place was about to get robbed.
They get interesting guns coming through, so we try to stop in regularly. In the past we have seen a great deal on Ruger Security-Six .357 magnums. I want a Speed-Six, personally; maybe to Fitz-ify.
They are right off Rte67. Worth your time to visit.
