Another Moment in Gun Buyback Stupidity

A Huntsville Alabama sex shop is offering a gun buyback – exchanging firearms for sex toys. This take the absurdity of gun buybacks to a whole new level. On the other hand, I suppose it makes sense – if you don’t have a gun, you’re screwed.

I know this is pedantic, but I really want to win other gunners over to this so that clear thinking prevails.

There is, in general, no such thing as a gun “buyback”.

You can’t buy back what you never owned before.

Calling gun buy-ups “buybacks”, especially government run buy-ups, delicately suggests that all property at some time belonged to the state.

A gun buy back is when you sell your friend a gun, then you regret it, and you buy it back from her.

I think I agree with you. It’s not quite as bad as the “clip” vs. “magazine” thing, but your wording gives a more accurate mental picture. Consider me sold.
